Gerome – compositional Geometry 01

Jean-Léon Gérôme’s painting, Duel After the Masquerade, is a strong example of a composition that includes figures in an environment. At first glance, the three things in the painting that stand out for me are two swords, and the accentuated curvature of the fallen man’s body.
