“Seeing/drawing is . . . a discipline of awareness, of unwavering attention to a world which is fully alive.”

— Frederick Franck (Author of The Zen of Seeing: Seeing/Drawing as Meditation)

MISSION

Through observational figure drawing, and the practical study of the principles of composition, one of the SGCA’s main goals is to help make our bodies smarter. The folks with the lab coats call this “embodied cognition”. Whatever it’s called, this is a place to engage in activities that promote individual and social well-being. It’s also a place to learn a real world hand skill along the lines of the age-old Craft Tradition.

Sevenfold is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization.

A special thanks to the Caproni Collection for donating a number of small plaster casts to the SGCA!
These casts are wonderful tools for students interested in developing their drawing skills.

A big thank you to La Voz Magazine for helping promote our drawing workshops!
La Voz is a monthly magazine that celebrates Hispanic culture and news from the Hudson Valley.
